Accusation

  • Issuing false health certificates under § 278 of the German Criminal Code (issuing false health certificates)
  • Allegation: approx. 55 mask exemption certificates issued after personal examination

What actually happened?

I personally examined all 55 patients and issued the certificates on the basis of medical findings (including COPD, asthma, and anxiety disorders). The certificates reflected my medical conviction and the Declaration of Geneva.

Professional impact

I had to close my practice and lost the additional income from my regular shifts at the emergency practice / on-call duties (averaging almost €30,000 per quarter), which was very bitter for me because I had just taken on a larger construction project.

Financial impact

I did not engage a lawyer and did not attend any court hearing, because doing so would have amounted to a formal statement on the case.

Personal impact

  • Sleep disturbances, depressive episodes
  • Social withdrawal of the entire family

Collegial reactions

  • All of my colleagues except one distanced themselves from me and discredited me as a conspiracy theorist.
  • All the medical assistants at the emergency practice, who for many years had felt almost like daughters to me, also distanced themselves.

Press reactions

I had no contact with the press and generally stayed under the radar.

Outlook

Despite everything, I would do the same again. My patients had a right to an individual medical assessment, and I had the duty to provide it. My hope is that this documentation helps the public learn what has happened to doctors in this country – and that nothing like this ever happens again.

September 2020:
Begin issuing mask exemption certificates for patients with a medical indication
15 March 2021:
Search of practice, my private home and that of my landlady; questioning of her neighbours; seizure of all files, patient records, mobile phones and PCs; removal of a safe; vandalism in my motorhome; suspicion of drug manufacture and dealing in narcotics
13 October 2020:
Termination of the pool-physician contract by Dr Johannes Fechner, deputy chair of the Stuttgart Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV)
28 August 2021:
Major demonstration in Berlin: collision with a mercenary of the US firm Constellis, who saw himself as a “police officer” and afterwards claimed that I had resisted state authority and physically attacked him. The opposite was the case (€3,600 fine)
1 July 2024:
Because I have not paid contributions to the Medical Association since 2023 (it had vigorously promoted the Corona “vaccination”), my pension of around €750 has been garnished since July 2024. The Medical Association is thus seizing money from my pension account at the medical pension fund
